Terms of Service

Last updated: 13 June 2026

These Terms govern your use of Lore, a private family archive provided by Buckley Studios (“Lore,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Lore.

Your account

Your content

You keep ownership of the photos, recordings, recipes, and other content you add (“Content”). By adding Content, you grant us a limited license to store, process, display, and share it with the family members you choose, and to perform technical operations needed to run the service (such as backups, format conversion, and the enrichment and transcription features).

You represent that you have the right to add the Content you submit and to share it with the families you add it to.

We don’t sell your Content, and we don’t use it to train third-party or general-purpose AI models. Any automated processing — such as transcription and enrichment — is used only to provide features within your own family archive.

Lore is intended for adults to maintain a private family archive. When you add Content about family members, including minors, you’re responsible for having the appropriate rights and permissions to add and share it.

Acceptable use

Don’t use Lore to:

We encourage you to keep your own copies of irreplaceable Content. While we maintain backups, you should not rely on Lore as your only copy.

Your responsibility

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Content you submit, your violation of these Terms, or your misuse of the service.

Copyright complaints

We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe Content on Lore infringes your copyright, contact us through the support form with enough detail to identify the work and where it appears, and we’ll review and remove infringing material where appropriate. We may remove Content and, for repeat infringers, terminate accounts.

Families & roles

Lore lets you create or join families (workspaces) and assign roles such as viewer, contributor, and editor. The capabilities of each role are determined by the app and may change as Lore evolves. Family owners and editors curate what is published within their family.

Plans & payment

Lore is free to use. We don’t charge for the service and don’t collect payment. If that changes in the future, we’ll clearly disclose any pricing before you’re charged and update these Terms. If paid plans are ever offered through the App Store, billing, renewals, and cancellations would be handled by Apple under their terms.

App Store

If you download Lore from the Apple App Store, these Terms are between you and Buckley Studios, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Your use must also comply with the App Store Terms of Service. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Any maintenance, support, or warranty obligations are ours, not Apple’s.

Service changes

We’re actively building Lore and may add, change, or remove features. We aim to keep your archive safe and accessible, but we may modify or discontinue parts of the service.

Termination

You can stop using Lore at any time and request deletion of your account. We may suspend or terminate access if these Terms are violated or to protect the service and its users.

Disclaimers & liability

Lore is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. While we work hard to keep your memories safe and to maintain backups, we cannot guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that Content will never be lost. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim (or, if you paid nothing, is limited to USD $100).

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Tennessee for any dispute that is not otherwise resolved.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We’ll revise the “last updated” date and, for material changes, provide notice in the app or by email. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

General

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding Lore. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision isn’t a waiver of it, and you may not assign these Terms without our consent.
